About Aspire
-
Aspire began in November 2018 as the result of a heartfelt conversation between Steve Stanley and two ministry colleagues. Steve had recently spoken with one of his mentors—an 82-year-old retired minister—who shared a simple but powerful encouragement: “Don’t forget your fellow servants. Stay in touch. Support one another. Keep growing—together.”
That wisdom planted a seed.
Recognizing the deep need for connection and support among ministers stepping out of full-time vocational roles, the group invited several trusted colleagues to explore the idea of forming a network. Over lunch, they shared a vision for creating a space where ministers and their spouses could rediscover purpose, share wisdom across generations, and walk together into the next season of life and ministry.
In March 2019, the first official gathering took place at the Hope Center in Plano, Texas. Twenty ministers attended—including one who was 94 years old. Four generations were represented in the room. Dr. Bernie Spooner served as the inaugural speaker, and the energy was undeniable.
From that gathering, the movement grew. The group was called CORE 7—short for Colleagues of Religious Educators, with “7” symbolizing spiritual completeness. Today, what began as a conversation has expanded into a multi-state network with active chapters, chapter presidents, and a shared commitment: to honor, support, and inspire ministers and their families as they transition into new callings.
That heartbeat continues today through Aspire.
